Whining

Mamma Earth, Mother Nature, all planetary beings and earth beings

I have wished you no harm, but I have inflicted damage upon you without intention or knowledge

At first, and then I continued to smatter destruction all around you and on you

In denial and absurdity, though I partially knew what I was doing

How do I change my being a human being cruel to you, Oh, Mamma

Tell me how to change so that we can both thrive and become one

I hear from Mamma, “We are one, no need to become. I am you

And you are me, and what you do to me, you do to yourself”

“Then change my ways for me!” I moan whining and sorrowful

“Not my job,” she answers, and I see a dim light beginning to shine brightly

I know that in order to bless my Mamma, I need to also receive her blessings

I know that I cannot live perfectly but I strive to be kind and compassionate

“Wonder when compassion doesn’t come easily or naturally?“ she whispers

“Probably when you are fearful and confused, and still, you can change yourself”

I ponder, realizing that my prayer is being answered but not in the ways I wanted

I wanted you to forgive me and bless me, Mamma, so I can go forth and

Treat you and every living being, every rock, and mineral with care

Like the care that you give me, let me be like you. “OK,” Mamma answered
