My Turn
My father gave me music and wisdom
My mother gave me grace and hope
Both shared their love with me and many others
In almost every piece of music I hear
I begin crying when the saxophone begins
Playing wailing and jazzy tunes
The blues, soul music
My father played woodwinds
Especially the sax
Without words, my parents showed me
How to bring more joy, justice and peace
To a chaotic and sometimes scary world
Sharing sounds, musical notes
Vibrations, frequencies and touch
Dance and beauty
The sacred, and
Love to all
My turn
